Arrived in Strasbourg, France overnight. After breakfast we walked about a mile through a park along the river to get to the buses for our included tour of the old town. Janni was our guide- he did a great job and was funny. We toured Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg, built between 1015 and 1439- high gothic architecture. A huge mechanical clock was the highlight of the church but there were a ton of tour groups there at the same time so it was crowded.
We had 45 minutes of free time, which was too little! We stopped at a small cafe for a beer so we could use the WC, passing a lot of cool little bakeries but no time to stop! We got back to the ship in time for lunch (ribs, salad, pulled pork, peach ice cream!) Went to the top deck to relax in the sun but it was so hot (86) that we went into the lounge to place dice. We stayed there until dinner.
Tonight was the German themed dinner which was fantastic- sauerbraten, chicken, potato salad, dumplings, sausages, red cabbage, sauerkraut, and wonderful desserts. We ate way too much and enjoyed the antics of George and his buddy in their lederhosen.
After dinner we went to the top deck to cool off and enjoy the sunset. At 9 we played musical trivia in the lounge and were in bed by 10:30. Another long day with over 13,000 steps!
