Alaskan Cruise Day 1- sailing out of Vancouver

On Sunday June 11 we had the continental breakfast at the hotel before leaving at 10 a.m. for Canada Place where the cruise ships dock.  We got in line to board- it was a very efficient process and they actually had us sitting more than standing while we waited.  I guess that's to accommodate all the "old" people taking Alaskan cruises! After waiting about 45 minutes we boarded at 11:30 a.m., with our picture IDs ready to be scanned on the Holland America ship.

We checked out our room #3335 on the Lower Promenade deck before going to lunch at the Lido Deck buffet.  SO many choices and the servers were excellent! We walked around the ship and enjoyed free cocktails and hot hors d'oevres on the Lido deck while the ship sailed out to sea at 4:30 p.m. Weather was sunny and breezy, mid 60's.

Very festive and fun atmosphere! After our lifeboat drill we listened to an art auction presentation, then had dinner again at the buffet.  Sat in the lounge and listened to piano and violin player, then went to the show in the main theater. In bed by 10, calm seas and no issues with seasickness.
