Alaska trip-Vancouver precruise Day 1

On Friday, June 9, 2017 we left CWA with Kathy and Andy at 7:30 a.m. We met Deb and Bill E in Minneapolis and then flew to Vancouver on Delta. We got there by 12:40 local time. Customs was a zoo but they had lots of kiosks for the self check-in process which included taking our pictures. We still had to get checked out by a person. We took taxis to our hotel in Vancouver- the Rosedale on Robson which is a smaller suite hotel right in the middle of downtown. We had a view of the mountains and these cute houses from our 13th floor room. Apparently they aren't superstitious in Canada!

We had lunch and a beer at the hotel restaurant which was really quite good! We tried poutine (french fries covered with cheese curds and gravy!) This is a Canadian thing, we all decided it was awesome! The weather was very nice- 69 for a high and sunny.

We walked around the area for awhile, then came back to the hotel and got cabs to the Al Porto Restaurant in the Gastown district (near the harbor).  This is a very nice place- with excellent service and food. Most of us had the special, halibut with risotto and fresh carrots and green beans and a salad for $30 CDN.  Got back to the hotel and headed to bed, we were very tired after getting up at 4:00 to catch our flights.
